ABOUT YOUR THERAPIST

Hello! My name is Sehrish and my job is to provide support in a nonjudgmental space that allows you to create a sense of self awareness and growth as you continue your path to gaining a better understanding of yourself and the world around you.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Houston, followed by my master’s degree in Counseling at Houston Baptist University and my PhD in Counseling Education at Sam Houston University. While pursuing my graduate degrees my experience has centered around gaining a better understanding of the complexities involved in various eating disorders, body image concerns and their effects on multicultural populations. I have worked extensively with both adults and adolescents and their families, to treat eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and trauma at higher levels of care in individual and group settings.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as most of the research-supported therapies, which include but are not limited to dialectical behavioral, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, narrative, solution focused, and acceptance and commitment therapy.

The idea of what is “normal” is subjective and no two journeys are the same. Your unique experiences differ greatly and are a big part of who we are and how we show up in the world, which is why I believe in integrating several approaches to best fit your individual needs.
